Rep. Haggerty pleased to see Workplace Safety Grants of Over $8,000 Awarded to Woburn

WOBURNState Representative Richard Haggerty (D-Woburn) is pleased to see the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) award safety training grants through the Department of Industrial Accidents Workplace Safety Training Grant program to Columbia Construction Company and Kiwi Technologies Inc.

“I’m delighted that two organizations right here in Woburn will receive funding for workplace safety training,” said Representative Haggerty. “These grants help empower companies to proactively train their employees on crucial safety measures through preventative training and educational programs. The safety and well-being of workers in Woburn and across our Commonwealth is critically important. ”

As part of EOLWD, the Department of Industrial Accidents administers this initiative to provide Massachusetts companies with financial assistance to promote safe and healthy conditions in the workplace by funding preventative safety training and education programs.

Columbia Construction Company was awarded $2,800 to train 85 workers while Kiwi Technologies Inc. received $5,400 to train 40 workers by June 2024.

The Workplace Safety Grant Program applications are reviewed and awarded on a rolling basis each fiscal year. Approximately $800,000 was allocated for FY24. The program encourages organizations to have a proactive approach to safety.
